Serving the Citizens of Cassia County Since 2014
After graduating from law school, my wife and I chose to return to her hometown of Burley in Cassia County to live and start our family. There is no better place to raise a family than in Cassia County.
I am very active in my church and its activities, coaching sports for my children in various local youth leagues, and supporting the attorney organizations in our community. I thoroughly enjoy being with my family, and specifically, traveling with them anywhere we can plan. I also love serving in any capacity, whether professionally or personally, and reading a good book (usually nonfiction). It is a privilege to live and serve in a safe place where I can raise my children and where my family can enjoy the beautiful outdoors offered by Cassia County. It is truly a pleasure to serve the people of Cassia County in the capacity of elected prosecuting attorney.
I support any policy or process which can improve the safety of our community. As a prosecutor, I am involved in problem solving courts, including Drug Court for adults and juveniles, DUI Court, Mental Health Court, and Domestic Violence Court. These courts assist in providing necessary treatment to individuals in the criminal justice system in an effort to hold them accountable for their actions without additional incarceration. I am personally involved with trying to protect children with monthly child protocol meetings and semi-annual child death review meetings with other agencies, including the Cassia County Sheriff and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare. These coordination meetings with other agencies assist in protecting the welfare of our children.
After law school, I immediately started practicing law as public defender in Burley. Though I enjoyed representing indigent defendants, I became a deputy prosecuting attorney in Cassia County one year after moving to Burley. As a prosecutor, I loved pursing the best interests of justice, specifically on behalf of county citizens and victims. It felt good to do right for society and I could do that best as a prosecutor. After a few years, I left prosecution to work in private practice in order to diversify my legal experience. I quickly found that I missed being a prosecutor and the personal and professional satisfaction it provided me.
In 2012, I returned to prosecution in Cassia County as the chief deputy prosecuting attorney. In 2014, I became the Prosecuting Attorney for Cassia County. My legal experiences as a criminal defense attorney and in private practice provide significant value to me in my role as Prosecuting Attorney. My professional experiences in these legal fields inform my decisions daily in prosecution and in serving the officials and employees of Cassia County. I truly enjoy serving everyone within our county and its respective cities. I love the daily challenge of keeping our communities safe and in assisting law enforcement and our neighborhoods with improving public safety.
